Let me be your trusted guide in holistic Nutritional Therapy and Naturopathy

Hi, I’m Hema Wara, founder of SO Nutrition

I’m a certified nutritional therapist and naturopath. Based in the UK, I educate people about nutrition and lifestyle practices to empower them, transform their health and reverse their symptoms for good.

My areas of special interest are fertility, women’s health, skin conditions and digestive complains.

My approach

Authentic: I will always be real and honest with you and ask my clients to do the same.  Together, we will create a plan that suits your life and needs, without idealism or perfection.

Evidence-based: My advice is informed by the latest research in nutritional science.

Empowering:  I aim to provide you with the knowledge and confidence to take complete control of your health.

Supportive: I will be your guide and confidante.  Anything we discuss is treated with absolute trust, confidence and respect.

My training & qualifications

I am proud to have graduated with diplomas in Naturopathic Nutrition and Naturopathy from the esteemed London College of Naturopathic Medicine (CNM). With over 200 hours of clinical practice under my belt, I have had the privilege of assisting clients battling fertility issues, digestive disorders, Type 2 diabetes, arthritis, and chronic skin conditions, among others.

I uphold registrations with several professional and regulatory bodies, including:

  • The British Association of Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine (BANT)
  • The Association of Naturopathic Practitioners (ANP)
  • The Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC)
  • The Institute of Functional Medicine (IFM)
  • The General Naturopathic Council (GNC)
  • Add BSc Pyschology, MSc Occupational Psychology

My quest for knowledge is incessant. I regularly attend professional development (CPD) conferences and seminars, staying abreast of the latest research and advancements in nutritional medicine. This continuous learning enables me to offer the very best advice to my clients.

My story

Like many, life in my 20s and 30s involved unhealthy food choices, alcohol binges, late nights and bad decisions!  It also included:

  • Aged 21 – alopecia areata, an autoimmune disease characterised by patchy hair loss.
  • Aged 24 – lichen planus, an autoimmune skin condition.
  • Aged 32 - 44 – ‘unexplained infertility’, 12 unsuccessful IVF/ICSI cycles and multiple miscarriages.
  • Aged 41 – depression.

Doctors suggested that my health issues were mainly due to stress, but I always believed there was more to it, including past and present diet and lifestyle choices.  Determined to heal my body naturally, I began researching and tried all sorts of holistic therapies – reflexology, Chinese medicine, acupuncture, reiki, meditation… you name it and I’ve probably tried it!  But the healing really began when I attended a naturopathic detox retreat and started working with a naturopath to support my health.

I was inspired to learn more about functional medicine so – whilst working full-time and undergoing fertility treatment – I completed 5 years of studies in biochemistry, nutrition and naturopathy. I used the knowledge to continue eating for my health, undertook nutritional coaching, and learnt how to meditate deeply. Over the next few years, I began to heal from the inside out and my health did a massive U-turn – my autoimmune conditions went into remission, I pulled myself out of depression without medication, I left a stressful career in HR and became a mother two healthy children!

This journey compelled me to launch SO Nutrition. I’m so passionate about showing my clients how nutritional science can help them to heal from the inside out, overcoming fertility struggles or chronic conditions, and living a healthier, happier life.
